Friendsgiving are full of delicious food and fun activities to enjoy with your BFF’s. Zachary and I went to the LA Mamacitas Friendsgiving to celebrate the upcoming release of Instant Family, in Theaters Friday, November 16. The best part, we got to Pay-It-Forward for children in foster care. Want to keep the spirit alive and do a good deed? Here are some ways you can…
Instant Family Movie
Foster children often come in multiples, the movie, Instant Family shares the story of Sean Anders and his wife, their real life experience. Foster children carry their most treasured belongings in one bag, and at times, move to multiple houses. It amazes me how many children are separated in the foster care system, but I’m so happy that beautiful families step into their roles of Instant Family through Foster Care. The heartwarming movie releases this Friday, November 16. We enjoyed a beautiful friendsgiving with our friends, the LA Mamacitas. It wasn’t your typical friendsgiving, with belly stuffing food. We got to pay-it-forward for Foster Children in the Los Angeles area. Let me share what we did and 3 ways that you can entertain your friendsgiving guest & do a good deed!
DIY Cute Ornaments to Gift
Zachary loved this activity! We decorated ornaments with stickers, washi tape, glitter, and so many more supplies. You can swing by your local craft store for the following supplies:
- Blank Wooden Ornaments
- Empty Plastic Ball Ornaments (to fill)
- Paint & More
We got to make our own little family ornament, Zachary helped with placing the cute foam stickers. I loved that we had time to bond and it was a great activity to allow him to get creative. This is awesome for little children and adults that attend your Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving. You can always donate these to your local Senior Center, Shelter, and CPS Count Office for Children to take home. A little gift can brighten someone’s day.
Toy Drive: Donate and Wrap Gifts
Our friends, LA Mamcitas set up the entire friendsgiving event, we got to wrap donated gifts to LA County Foster Children. It was a bittersweet moment, appreciating that I get to spend time with my little guy and make memories with him. They had a huge selection of unwrapped presents for boys and girls in various age categories. You can even organize a TOY DRIVE before your event, in hopes to get more donated gifts for your charity of choice.
Snacks were sooo delicious, my favorite: Macaroons! Zachary ate way too many red vines, but we were so excited for the event and movie release, we indulged a bit.
Make Blessings Bags
If you haven’t heard of “Blessing Bags”, they are Ziploc bags filled with hygiene and related items for homeless civilians, seniors, children and anyone in need. It’s an awesome way to create a small gift of necessities, which help boost their confidence with a kit to freshen up. They can include the following travel size items:
- Hand Sanitizer
- Feminine Hygiene products
- Lip Balm
- Snacks (non-perishable)
- Vitamins / Aspirin
- Cleansing Wipes & More!
Everyone can bring their own items, or you can have a Shelter Drive, similar to a Toy Drive, where you collect items to donate to your local shelter or homeless civilians. It’s a great way to give back.
