New Year, New You, does that sound familiar? As we kiss 2018 goodbye, it’s time for the New Years Resolutions to kick-start. I keep my life simple, but there are simple tips and tricks that keep my life on track.
There are plenty of ways to achieve your goals, you might be a planner. Or you can totally be like a wild mustang horse, free-spirited and go with the flow. Do what works for you and your current situation. These are things that I do for myself and my family to keep us afloat throughout the year. I totally forget from time to time, life happens and it’s okay.
Family Organization Tips
If you dig the idea of keeping your life digital, and you forget to write on your daily or weekly calendar. Use your cell phone Calendar app to keep you on track. It can set off alarms with your event notifications, I love ours. My husband doesn’t care to use his, but he gets our family reminders that include our sons game days, school events and important dates.
Meal Plan your weekly dinners, this will help cut down on unnecessary expenses like overpriced pizza delivery. It’s not a total chore if you know what’s for dinner. Plus, it saves my husband from asking me what I want to eat. Add this delicious BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad to your dinner plans and you’ll stay on track for a low carb meal.
Track your Progress
If you love weekly planning, then pick up a planner on Amazon.com and start tracking your progress. They have a large selection, you’ll even find a weight loss planner and meal prep organizer. Some of my friends love to use their dry-erase boards, it allows them to make quick adjustments and place it in the family room.
You can often find deals on planners, dry erase calendars, and recipe books throughout the year. Recently, I dropped into my local craft store and they were having a deal on spiral planners. It’s a great way to keep you motivated and accountable for your goals.
Use Apps for your New Year’s Resolution Goals
Now that we are going more digital, it’s easier to keep our lives on track with apps that we can download on our mobile devices. It’s a great way to be environmentally savvy and there’s a less chance of forgetting your task. Pinterest is excellent for meal planning and finding delicious recipes, you can follow me here. I use Trello for work, it helps me manage multiple projects. Wunderlist is very similar and I use it for my personal blogging ideas, grocery lists, you name it! My google calendar app is very important as I sync it with my husbands calendar and we are notified of any upcoming sports games for our sons.
Budgeting and Saving Money
I try and avoid paper coupons, I somehow always forget them when I want to redeem them. It’s very easy to shop and save money with various apps. This is a full list of what I have downloaded onto my phone:
- Fetch Rewards – my referral code: QE6FF
- Ibotta – my referral code: kwhrhou
- Dosh – my referral code: ALYSSAT5
- Target – cartwheel discounts
These are all apps that have helped me receive cash back with my purchases, or allow me to redeem cash back by scanning my receipts. It’s super easy to use! The Target app allows you to apply the discounts in store and you can use their digital coupons as well. I use the savings from my everyday shopping purchases towards funding our family adventures and vacations.
